Message from the Desk of the Principal

Fr. Holland Catholic School has enjoyed a distinguished and proud history of serving the children and families of northwest Rhode Island since 1962 when it was opened as a parish school of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church under the direction of the Sisters of Mercy.  An all lay faculty and staff now serve the school community.

The climate throughout Fr. Holland Catholic School reflects its mission as a Catholic school for grades PreK 3 year olds through 8th grade.  A warm and welcoming family-oriented atmosphere are evident from the moment one enters the school.  Emphasis on faith development, academic excellence, a sense of team spirit, and an insistence on mutual respect among all constituencies set Fr. Holland Catholic School apart and make it unique among other local elementary schools.

The Fr. Holland Catholic School community strives to develop in its students the spiritual values and intellectual skills necessary to become contributing members of the local and greater communities.  Fr. Holland Catholic School students often score significantly higher than the national norm on standardized tests.  They have also been recognized for their participation in the Feinstein Good Deeds Program as one of the top schools in the state for their numerous service projects.

All students are encouraged to reach their full potential as unique creations of God through their participation in a variety of programs designed to stimulate their intellectual, aesthetic, athletic, and spiritual development.  Recognizing that each child has distinct strengths and weaknesses provides the impetus for meeting individual needs through modifications and accommodations whenever possible or necessary.  The New England Association of Schools and Colleges has commended the faculty and staff for their dedication to the children and families of Fr. Holland Catholic School and for providing them with an environment where differences are celebrated, and all are encouraged to excel.

Therefore, it is with much pride that I, as principal, lead this wonderful school community.  I invite you to visit our school to experience the warm and welcoming atmosphere for yourself.  I think you will find in Fr. Holland Catholic School exactly what you desire for your child-spiritual values, academic excellence, a dedicated faculty and staff, a safe and nurturing environment, and a climate that is more like a family than a business.

God bless you,
